How do I get my Concealed Weapons License?

The first step, Review Your Eligibility. The basics are, you must be 21 years of age, you must be a US citizen or resident alien living in the United States, and have a “clean” background. Check out this questionnaire from the department of agriculture to help you determine if you’re eligible.

Second, Get Firearm Training. This training could be as simple as a beginner’s class, an advanced class, or something in between. It could also include online instruction (as long as live fire is performed in-person).
The training must be performed by a qualified instructor (NRA, LEO, etc.) and must include live fire in the physical presence of the instructor [f.s. 790.06 (2)(h)]. All classes offered by Bold Carry can qualify you for your license.

Third, Apply. The state of Florida has several methods to apply for your concealed weapons license. online, in person, or by mail. By far the easiest method, to complete without error, is “in person”. The “in person” method will be completed at an agricultural department regional office or at an authorized tax collector. All regional offices and most tax collectors require you to make an appointment. Using www.fdacs.gov you can make an appointment at your local regional office. Select the by topic tab in the top right corner of the webpage, scroll down to concealed weapons license, click on apply for a license, and click on a regional office in the “apply in person” section. Then simply select your regional office and select the date and time to the online scheduler. If you’re going to go through tax collector simply use your tax collectors website to make an appointment or call the tax collector directly by phone.

Fourth, Wait. Once you’ve made your application with the tax collector or the agricultural department you’ll just sit back and wait for your application to be processed and your concealed weapons license issued. The state legally has 90 days to complete the application and give a yes or a no on issuing your license. I’ve seen people get their license as quickly as six days and others taking longer than three months. There’s really no rhyme or reason, what do expect, it’s the government.
